Ethiopian woman scientist featured at the photo exhibition organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva /UNOG/ with the theme “Not a Woman’s Job? Changing Faces of Science and Tech,” held on July 2, 2024, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
This exhibition organized by the UNOG in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union /ITU/ and the European Organization for Nuclear Research /CERN/ featured selected photographs submitted by the Permanent Missions to the United Nations Office at Geneva, as well as contributions from ITU and CERN.
The Permanent Mission of Ethiopia is proud of the works of Mrs. Seblewongel Tesfu Teferie, Technology Engineer, founder of NOLIGA Engineering manufacturing wind and hydro kinetic turbines, as well as creator of green jobs, where her photo was among the few scientists and engineers to be selected and presented at the exhibition.
The initiative aims to celebrate and amplify the voices of women who dare to lead, innovate, and forge new paths in science and technology challenging outdated perceptions, and inspire a new generation.
The event was inaugurated by Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of UNOG, as well as Mr. Tomas Lamanauskas, Deputy Secretary-General of ITU, and Ms. Malika Meddahi, Deputy Director for Accelerators and Technology of CERN, was also graced by the presence of the Permanent Representatives as well as staff members of the Permanent Missions in Geneva
