H.E. Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew Daka

H.E. Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew Daka is the Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organization in Switzerland. He is also the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Vienna, Austria.  In addition, he is the Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Switzerland with concurrent accreditation to Austria, Hungary and Romania.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Australia in 2022.

He has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. Overseas, he served as the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Ethiopia in The Hague, Netherlands from 2019 to 2021; Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Ethiopia in Washington D.C., United States of America from 2011 to 2015; and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing, China from 2001 to 2006.

He has also held a variety of positions within Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Addis Ababa, including Director General of Asia and Pacific Affairs from 2017 to 2019; Coordinator for United Nations Security Council Affairs from 2016 to 2017; Head of the Foreign Service Training Institute from 2015 to 2016; Chief of Cabinet at the Minister’s Office from 2010 to 2011; and Director of the Asia and Oceania Affairs Department from 2007 to 2010. One of his many professional achievements was leading the campaign for Ethiopia’s successful bid and election into the Security Council for the term 2017-18.

Ambassador Tsegab kebebew holds an Executive Masters in Development and Governance from CERIS-ULB Diplomatic School of Brussels (2020-2021) and a Master of Arts in Political Science (1991-1993) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. He is fluent in Amharic and English, is married and has two children.
